Hmmm. I thought "we" got corn and beans *from* Native Americans, and that their health deteriorated with the introduction of sugar, flour, and alcohol. My allergist's "cave man" diet was not the same as today's Caveman Diet. His was to ferret out food allergies, which is why rice and rice products were allowed. Looking back, I'm surprised he included peanuts, though.

Hello,

I just wanted to comment on your posting. Peanut butter is not actually on the "Caveman Diet." They are not technically a nut at all--you should stick to almonds or walnuts--they are best. And, rice cakes are forbidden too because they are a grain & also filled with high-fructose corn syrup. So, of course you did not lose weight because you did not follow the diet.

Doritoes, Potato Chips, etc. are full of refined carbs & high fructose corn chips. Orange juice isn't best--it's just filled with more sugar & will cause your sugar levels to spike. It's best to eat the fruit fresh. Fries are a no-no and toss the bun if you get a burger. Coffee is okay in limited quantities, but rely on H2O. And, there's no need to overdo the water, either. Just drink when you're thirsty.

Here's a link that may help you: http://www.healingcrow.com/dietsmain/paleo/paleo.html

I am an Anthropology student and studying Native Americans. Their health began to deteriorate after corn & beans were introduced into their diet. Many now face diabetes along with other health problems.

I hope that this gives you a push in the right direction. I am a carb-junkie & am starting the diet myself.

Best of luck.
