I love the Tassajara Bread Book, and have used it a lot too. I hope your loaf turned out OK - I'm often surprised at how well breads turn out even when they're a little unusual or creative in their ingredients. Even the ones I don't really want to reproduce again are often better than store-bought bread anyway. Have you tried adding some beans to your bread mix?! Now that opens up a lot of possibilities!

All the best with your cooking and baking.

Hi
Feed Your Tiger is a way to get people personally involved in healthy eating. Some like the animal types: Dragon, Bear, Tiger, Crane. Certainly they are fairy easy to recognize because they are based on energy types used for centuries in traditional Asian medicines..

*Dragons are big, they have often lifelong weight problems, or overweight after illness or depression or medications. They like salty foods or comfort foods. Things they can eat while working or watching TV.
*Bears like sweets. They carry extra weight in the middle and can develop blood sugar problems.
*Tigers like spice, adventure foods, travel, movement. They can develop joint pains, allergies, emotional or nervous binges.
*Cranes love pizza, breads, may have smoking or other addictions, complexion issues, chronic diarrhea or other absorption issues..

Other than that some people like the recipes or recommended diets in the book. Others who do not cook prefer using supplements. You always have a choice. I like to give readers options so they can fit the advice into their lifestyle. All you need is one improvement - like a homeopathic remedy for depression bingeing, or an energy tonic to increase confidence and will power to lose weight. That can make a difference.

Somehow I imagine that the cheeseburger and small fries wouldn't have satisfied either. How many calories do you take in daily? I've started to track what I eat on my blog, and I can relate to being tired after work. I'll look forward to checking in on what you have been eating.

mmmmmmmm, Butter

You are 100% right on about preparing meals in advance.

2 thoughts for you:

Diets with a lot of variety result in the ingestion of more calories than boring mono-type diets. If you had to eat minestrone (even great minestrone) at each meal, your tastebuds/appetite center will be less stimulated and you will eat less.

However, most dieters can't wait for that hormonal effect.

They feel deprived, break their diet a little, then a lot, then quit altogether.

That being said, prepping food on Sunday for the coming week has been a great tool for me and my clients.

Best of luck

cha,

You are totally right, it makes sense that increasing your activity would also increase your appetite.

It's up to you what you what food you re-fuel your body with.

A big bowl of chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce with a chicken breast and a salad dressing of olive oil & balsamic or lemon juice will do more for you losing weight & killing your appetite than a microwaved "diet" meal or a big bowl of pasta or a deli sandwich or a burger....

had to stop, getting hungry myself.

give me a shout if you have any questions

Hmmm. I thought "we" got corn and beans *from* Native Americans, and that their health deteriorated with the introduction of sugar, flour, and alcohol. My allergist's "cave man" diet was not the same as today's Caveman Diet. His was to ferret out food allergies, which is why rice and rice products were allowed. Looking back, I'm surprised he included peanuts, though.

Hello,

I just wanted to comment on your posting. Peanut butter is not actually on the "Caveman Diet." They are not technically a nut at all--you should stick to almonds or walnuts--they are best. And, rice cakes are forbidden too because they are a grain & also filled with high-fructose corn syrup. So, of course you did not lose weight because you did not follow the diet.

Doritoes, Potato Chips, etc. are full of refined carbs & high fructose corn chips. Orange juice isn't best--it's just filled with more sugar & will cause your sugar levels to spike. It's best to eat the fruit fresh. Fries are a no-no and toss the bun if you get a burger. Coffee is okay in limited quantities, but rely on H2O. And, there's no need to overdo the water, either. Just drink when you're thirsty.

Here's a link that may help you: http://www.healingcrow.com/dietsmain/paleo/paleo.html

I am an Anthropology student and studying Native Americans. Their health began to deteriorate after corn & beans were introduced into their diet. Many now face diabetes along with other health problems.

I hope that this gives you a push in the right direction. I am a carb-junkie & am starting the diet myself.

Best of luck.
